USS Wyoming began life as the nameship of the last 12-inch armed battleship class in the USN. She would serve as such through to the dawn of the 1930s, at which point she would become a training ship. While she retained some of her main battery even then, come 1944, she would lose those as well.

And become the battleship with a main battery of ten 5-inch guns. For training purposes.
