Dozens of vehicles could be seen at the Grenctale-Salociai crossing point on the Latvian-Lithuanian border on Friday after the Baltic states reopened their shared borders to one another.

The citizens and residents of Estonia, Latvia, and Lithunia can now move freely between the nations. Anyone arriving from outside the Baltic states is required to self-isolate for 14 days.

The Baltic countries have recorded fewer than 150 COVID-19 deaths since the beginning of the epidemic.

After the borders reopened at midnight, Lithuanian Prime Minister Saulius Skvernelis wrote on Twitter that “Throughout history, Baltic States of Lithuania, Latvia and Estonia have been exposed to a variety of challenges. We will overcome this one as well, thanks to excellent understanding and coordination.”
